I’m a middle age white woman who just spent the morning cooking meals with Tupac and Dre’s original California Love cranked in the background while the Spotify algorithm pulled up Nelly, LL, Heavy, Snoop and friends (or foes). These rappers were part of my youth, part of my education and awareness. Their words now still stand, and perhaps I understand them better with maturity. I always admired their courage, conviction and fearlessness in calling out truth.
